About the Elevator Sign
Elevators carry their own signs. Both jambs of every hoistway entrance show the floor in raised characters at least 2 inches high with braille below, and the main entry floor adds a raised five-pointed star to the left of the number (ADA §407.2.3.1). The buttons inside the car are labeled with raised symbols and braille: door open, door close, alarm, phone, emergency stop, and the star for the main floor (§407.4.7.1.3). Building and elevator codes add a sign at each call station telling people not to use the elevator in a fire (IBC 3002.3). Pick a kind to draw a jamb plate, a control label or the fire sign.
